This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and safeguard your information when you visit www.spynation.ca or use the Spy Nation mobile application (the “Service”). We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec’s Law 25, and applicable Canadian privacy legislation. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We collect information you provide directly, as well as certain technical and usage information automatically to ensure proper operation of the Service.

When you interact with Spy Nation, we may collect:

Website Analytics and Advertising Technologies

Mobile Application Data (Base44 Infrastructure and Analytics SDK)

The Spy Nation mobile application does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs and does not display advertising within the app. When you use the Spy Nation mobile application, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information through our backend infrastructure and analytics systems provided by Base44. This may include:

C. Location Data (Mobile App Only)

The Spy Nation mobile application collects precise location data while the app is actively in use to enable core gameplay features, including:

• Mission unlocking

• Team coordination

Location data is not collected when the app is closed unless you explicitly grant background location access through your device settings. You may disable location permissions at any time; however, certain features of the app may not function properly without location access.

D. Camera, Media, and Notifications

The app may request permission to access:

• Camera

• Photo library

• Push notifications

Camera and media access occur only when initiated by you for mission-related functionality. Push notifications may be used for mission timers, gameplay updates, and operational alerts. You may disable these permissions through your device settings.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

• Operate and maintain the Spy Nation app and website

• Authenticate users and manage accounts

• Enable mission and gameplay functionality

• Communicate mission briefings, updates, and newsletters (with consent)

• Analyze usage trends and improve performance

• Monitor stability and prevent abuse

Automated Processing

Certain gameplay features, including mission unlocking and progress validation, are processed automatically by our backend systems. These automated processes are necessary for core functionality and do not produce legal or similarly significant effects outside the gameplay environment.

3. CONSENT

When you provide personal information for newsletters, beta access, or account registration, you consent to its collection and use for that specific purpose. We use a double opt-in process for email communications. For mobile permissions such as location, camera, and notifications, consent is obtained through your device permission settings. You may withdraw consent at any time by:

• Unsubscribing from marketing emails

• Disabling permissions in your device settings

• Contacting our Privacy Officer to request deletion of your data

4. DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Information. We use trusted third-party service providers to operate and support the Service. These providers process data only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are required to implement appropriate safeguards. Our key service providers include:

Base44
Provides backend infrastructure, including data storage, authentication services, backend processing, analytics, and crash diagnostics. Mobile app data is processed and stored through Base44 infrastructure.

Wix.com Ltd.
Provides website hosting, content management, and form processing services. Information submitted through our website, including contact forms and newsletter signups, may be stored on Wix servers.

Email Marketing Providers

If you subscribe to communications, your email address may be processed by our email automation provider for distribution of updates.

 

If you connect the app to additional third-party services initiated by you, data may be transmitted to those providers as required for functionality. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights, property, or safety.

5. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION

Personal information may be stored and processed on secure servers operated by our service providers, including Base44 and Wix. Website-related data such as contact form submissions and newsletter signups may be stored through Wix infrastructure. Mobile application data, including authentication, gameplay data, analytics, and diagnostics, is stored and processed through Base44 infrastructure. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to:

• Maintain active accounts

• Provide gameplay functionality

• Deliver communications if subscribed

• Comply with legal obligations

Upon verified request, we will delete or anonymize account information, gameplay data, and associated identifiers, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate operational purposes.  Account deletion requests may be submitted by contacting our Privacy Officer using the contact information below.

6. DATA SECURITY AND ENCRYPTION

All data transmitted between your device and our backend infrastructure is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and SSL protocols. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized systems and service providers necessary for operation of the Service. While we implement commercially reasonable safeguards, no system can guarantee absolute security.

7. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Your information may be processed and stored in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. In such cases, your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

8. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Spy Nation is not directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

If the app is used by minors as part of a supervised activity, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for providing consent where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will take steps to remove such information.
