About the event
Operation Overwatch places players in the role of an imagery intelligence analyst tasked with reconstructing the route of a fictional field operative. The mission begins with satellite overhead images showing distinct terrain patterns, rooftops, pathways, and structural shapes found throughout the Westboro and Hintonburg corridor. Players must interpret these visual cues and identify the matching real-world locations.
As they move through the mission area, participants receive additional covert ground photographs. These images include partial street views, mural fragments, architectural details, shadow angles, and environmental markers. Each checkpoint teaches key IMINT principles such as structure identification, orientation, pattern-of-life assessment, and extracting information from limited or degraded imagery.
Players learn how satellite imagery and ground photography work together in modern intelligence. By fusing overhead views with on-the-ground frames, they reconstruct the operative’s path and determine where the final location.
